Emergency Check-in for Seniors
A simple, non-intrusive check-in system designed for seniors who want to stay independent while having a reliable safety net. One tap to confirm you're okay.
TL;DR
A check-in system that works with your routine, not against it. You receive a notification at a set time, tap to confirm you're okay, and that's it. If you don't respond, your chosen contacts are automatically alerted via SMS or email with a message you've written yourself.
Who is this for
Active seniors who live independently and want a safety net, not surveillance. Whether you hike, garden, travel, or simply live alone, this is a plan B you control entirely: you choose the schedule, the contacts, and the message.
How Can Seniors Stay Independent While Having a Safety Net?
Staying independent doesn't mean staying unprotected. Most seniors don't want a camera in their home or a pendant around their neck, they want to live their life normally, with the assurance that someone will know if something goes wrong.
A check-in system provides exactly that: a daily (or twice-daily) confirmation that everything is fine. It's private, it's simple, and it's entirely under your control.
Typical situation
Robert, 72, hikes three times a week and maintains his garden daily. He's healthy and active, but he knows that a fall or a sudden health issue could leave him unable to call for help. He sets a daily check-in at 7 PM, if he doesn't confirm by 7:30 PM, his daughter and neighbor receive an alert with his home address and medical notes.
One in four Americans aged 65+ falls each year (CDC). A check-in system reduces the time between an incident and someone taking action.
How Is a Check-in System Different from Surveillance?
You control the schedule
Choose when and how often you check in, once a day, twice, or only on specific days.
You write the message
The alert your contacts receive is written by you. Include exactly the information you want shared.
You choose who's notified
Pick your contacts: family, a trusted neighbor, a friend. No monitoring center, no strangers.
No hardware required
No pendant, no wristband, no camera. Just your phone and a daily tap.
How Does the Emergency Check-in System Work for Seniors?
1. You receive a notification
At the time you've chosen, a notification appears on your phone. Tap to confirm you're okay.
2. Grace period if you're busy
Didn't see it right away? A grace period (e.g. 30 minutes) runs before any alert is sent.
3. Your contacts are alerted
If the grace period expires, all your designated contacts receive your pre-written message simultaneously via SMS and/or email.
Coming soon. Graduated escalation: alert contacts in sequence with configurable delays between tiers. Currently, all contacts are notified simultaneously.
What Do Your Contacts Receive When You Miss a Check-in?
"Missed check-in. Robert Martin
📍 45 Maple Street, Apt 2B
❤️ Pacemaker, avoid MRI
💊 Daily: blood thinner (Eliquis), statin
🔑 Spare key with neighbor in Apt 2A (Mrs. Johnson)
📞 Doctor: Dr. Williams, (555) 234-5678"
Beyond the text message, your emergency page can also include encrypted voice messages you recorded (Survival plan) and encrypted credentials such as site/password pairs (paid plans), all accessible only after PIN verification by your contacts.
You write this message yourself. Include exactly what would help someone check on you.
